FOR ONE LAST SUMMER, NOTHING HAD TO CHANGE.
THEN BOBBY DISAPPEARED.

Summer, 1989. School is over, and Suzie and her friends have one season left before everything scatters — college, jobs, the Army, the end of a childhood none of them will admit is already over. Long days at Lake Sawyer. Nights nobody wants to end. Feelings that are getting harder to ignore.

Then Bobby Peterson doesn't come home.

The police say he ran. But Ed had a tape running that night, and underneath the static there is a voice none of them spoke.

I have him.

The recordings lead them back to the lake — where voices answer from decades that have already ended, and something offers each of them the life they wish they'd had.

Bobby isn't the first person Sawyer has lost.

He may not be the last.

Some summers change you. Some never let you leave.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Sawyer 89 is a nostalgic, atmospheric and genuinely addictive supernatural mystery about friendship, first love and one final summer together, with something much darker lurking beneath the surface.
An impressive debut and a very easy 4⭐️ from me. I read it in two nights, cared about these characters and absolutely wanted to know what was waiting on the next page.

New gen Stephen King, and I don’t say that lightly. Sawyer 89 is eerie and creepy in a way that gets under your skin. It’s not a jumpy scare-fest, it’s psychological, and that’s exactly the kind of horror I prefer. It stays with you after you put it down. I really hope there will be a sequel. I want to know what happens next for Cass, and it feels like there’s a lot of unfinished business in Sawyer that still needs answers.
